EDTech 501: Elements of Educational Technology

This week I explored the definition of Educational Technology and how the definition (as well as the field) has changed and developed over time.

In 2008, the Association for Educational Communication and Technology (AECT) adopted this definition, which is still current:

EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY: The study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and improving performance by creating, using, and managing appropriate technological processes and resources

I then chose one of the thirteen key words and wrote a paper explaining why I felt it was important in the AECT’s definition and what it means to me. I chose to expound on appropriate, which is used in a much different context than you might initially expect. Read on for further enlightenment:
